Diversity took centre stage at mOSAic@NUS 2025 — an annual celebration of cultures, identities, and values within the NUS community. Held from 5 to 16 February, the 11-day event brought together over 2,200 participants in a dynamic showcase of traditions, customs, and shared experiences alongside 30 student groups who co-organised mOSAic with the Office of Student Affairs (OSA).

This year’s theme, Crossroads, encouraged students to reflect on the intersection of their identities, values and experiences with those of their peers. From cultural exhibitions to hands-on workshops and thought-provoking dialogues, mOSAic created spaces for connection, understanding, and appreciation.

Appreciating different cultures and faiths through crafts, food and games
The festivities kicked off with mOSAic Fest on 5 February at Town Plaza with 13 cultural and faith booths, five crafters’ booths, and 10 student performances. Over 1,800 attendees savoured the flavours of diverse cuisines, enjoyed different cultural performances, and tried their hand at making rangoli-inspired coasters, traditional knots, and paper krathongs (floating lanterns).

Deepening Understanding Through Dialogue and Sports
mOSAic 2025 also featured seven fringe events that deepened understanding of other cultures and faiths through sports games, cultural activities and peer-facilitated dialogue. These included:
- Interfaith Dialogue: a student-led initiative where participants from religious and non-religious backgrounds shared personal experiences, fostering mutual respect and shared understanding.
- Inclusive Fest: An annual celebration which amplified disability awareness, deepens understanding of accessibility and celebrates diversity and difference in the community.
- SEAnergy: A day-long cultural exchange through friendly sports competitions and performances, strengthening cross-cultural bonds among students.
Through these varied opportunities, participants were able to broaden their perspectives, foster empathy, and nuance their understanding of other cultures, faith and needs.
