Yusof Ishak House Photo Booth/Spot Design Competition

Get ready for the official launch of the rejuvenated, award-winning Yusof Ishak House (YIH) this October! The NUS Office of Student Affairs (OSA) wants your boldest, most creative ideas for an insta-worthy photo spot/booth present at the launch. The winning design will come to life at Level 2, Atrium of YIH. Submit your original design idea for a chance to win a cash prize of $1,000 and see your ideas brought to life!

Your design should: 

  • Capture the spirit of vibrancy, momentum, adventure, transformation, and community
  • Reflect YIH as a home base — a place to recharge, connect, and spark new encounters  

There are two parts of the selection process.  

By 29 Jun 2025 2359hrs, you are only required to submit a written proposal (max 2000 characters) with visual references to OSA.

Shortlisted applicants will be contacted on the second part of the selection process, which includes: 

  • 2 Jul: Shortlisted submissions attend on-site briefing 
  • 14 Jul: Detailed illustrations and proposals due 
  • 19 Jul: Final pitch 
  • Late Jul – Sep: Design finalisation with vendor 
  • 8/15 Oct: Attend YIH Launch and receive cash prize 

 

  • Submissions must be received by 29 June 2025, 2359hrs to be considered. 
  • Only submissions made by currently enrolled NUS students with a valid NUS email address will be considered.  
  • By participating, applicants:
    • agree to the terms and conditions of the NUS Personal Data Notice for Students
    • consent to the collection, use and disclosure of the particulars provided below to Office of Student Affairs and other third parties (including without limitation, information that may be deemed personal data under the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 of Singapore) for the following purposes: publicity of YIH Launch 2025 and/or any other incidental purposes related to or in connection with the above. 
    • Should one wishes to withdraw one's consent and request for NUS to stop using and/or disclosing one's personal data for any of the purposes listed above, a request can be submitted via email to liyana.a@nus.edu.sg to indicate so. (Please note that the withdrawal of consent takes 5 working days to take effect.) 
  • Recommended resolution for submissions is 300dpi and above. 
  • Designs must
    • be original work of the participant and must not use any copyrighted material. 
    • not contain any offensive or obscene elements. 
  • Winning designs are to include the university logo and adhere to NUS120 identity guidelines (more details will be shared at a later stage) 
  • If responses are not received within the specified timeframe, OSA reserves the right to select an alternate design or make alternative arrangements.
    • The winning artists’ names will be featured on the booth; please do not include any names on the design. 
    • By entering this contest, applicants agree that their name and entry could be publicly announced on OSA-utilised platforms such as OSAY, Instagram etc.  
  • By submitting a design:
    • applicants agree to grant NUS the right to use, duplicate, modify, and reproduce the design for promotional and display purposes. NUS shall not be liable to pay or compensate the contestant for the use of the submitted design, other than through the prizes offered to the winning submission. 
  • applicants agree to hold OSA harmless from any claims, damages, liabilities, or expenses arising from participation in the contest, or the acceptance or use of the prize.
