Birdwatching is a production that merges sound design, visual art, poetry and spoken word with butoh-inspired movement and audience interaction.
In a modernity so thoroughly marked by apathy and detached watching through narrowed lenses, what violences have we become desensitised to? When did our limbs fall asleep, and where does that numbness come from? Can we remember how to feel and move forward again?
Through this immersive, site-specific installation, Birdwatching invites you to explore themes of sociopolitical violence and apathy culture in Singapore by sitting in your discomfort and acknowledging the horrors we fall victim to, enact upon others, or watch from afar.
Birdwatching is presented as part of third space supported by ExxonMobil Asia Pacific.
