In line with mOSAic’s theme, Tapestry of Stories, the mural turns discarded textiles into portraits of people from the NUS community. Made from fabric scraps and leftover materials, it shows how what we throw away can still carry meaning and become something worth keeping.
Created during mOSAIC 2026, students and staff were invited to pause and make art. Each portrait represents a member of NUS, shaped by their own experiences and backgrounds.
Seen together, these fabric faces reflect the mix of identities that make up Singapore – different cultures, languages, memories, and ways of living. The mural invites you to look closely, recognise what is familiar, and stay curious about what is not. In telling our stories through making, we practise care for one another.
