Associate Professor Han Kiat HO, Ph.D., DABT, is the Dean of Students at the National University of Singapore and an academic staff of the Department of Pharmacy. He received his Bachelor of Science (Pharmacy) with First Class Honors, along with the Lee Kuan Yew Gold Medal and Chalmers Medal as the top graduate. Following which, he became one of the pioneer recipient of the A*STAR Overseas Graduate Scholarship and obtained his Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Washington. In 2009, he started his own research program in NUS, exploring various aspects of liver diseases including the management of drug-induced liver toxicity, liver fibrosis and liver cancer. In recent years, he also interfaced the use of nanomaterials to explore the impact on liver regeneration as well as in nanotoxicology.
Over the years as a faculty member, he has published more than 90 papers in internationally recognised journals and has won multiple university-level teaching excellence awards, including the Outstanding Educator Award in 2020. He was also recently recognized for his research by winning the 2020 Distinguished Alumni Award for Excellence in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research, conferred by the University of Washington, School of Pharmacy. He is the Vice President of the Toxicology Society of Singapore, editorial advisory board member of Biochemical Pharmacology and Current Opinion in Toxicology. He is also a diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology.

A/P Adeline Seow is a faculty member of the NUS Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health. She graduated from NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and joined the University in 1990. She is a public health specialist with a research focus on the epidemiology and prevention of cancer, and has taught undergraduate modules in evidence-based medicine and disease prevention, as well as helped to set up and direct the Master of Public Health programme in NUS. Adeline was the founding Master of the College of Alice & Peter Tan, and served from 2011 to 2019. The College’s ethos of active citizenship and community engagement emerged under her leadership.

Associate Professor Chan Tze Law
Singaporean conductor Chan Tze Law is a founding faculty member of the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore, where as Associate Professor he lectures on conducting and music leadership and as Vice Dean he oversees the conservatory’s Career Orientation and Community Engagement (COCE) area. He has recently been appointed concurrently as Vice Dean-designate of Office of Student Affairs overseeing the Centre for the Arts.
Prof Chan is widely acknowledged for his founding role in establishing orchestral training at the conservatory. He also led the development of professional music business modules and the ground-breaking Bachelor of Music in Music, Collaboration & Production (MCP), as well as the creation of the Singapore’s first university-level CET modules in music with SkillsFuture (SSG) funding support. More recently, Prof Chan led the design and launch of conservatory’s new Masters in Music Leadership programme.
Prof Chan holds professional diplomas in violin performance and teaching, bachelor and doctoral degrees in orchestral conducting as well as a master’s degree in management. He was the founding Chief Conductor of the Australian International Summer Orchestral Institute and presented masterclasses in conducting at the Peabody Institute (USA), Royal Academy of Music (UK) and the Queensland Conservatorium (Australia). Prof Chan served on the selection committee of the Oxford University’s Conducting Institute International Conducting Studies Conference. He co-presented (with Prof Kenneth Paul Tan) ‘Tune in to leadership’ at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy’s annual Senior Management programme, as well as leadership programmes and workshops for other NUS faculties and major Singapore and international business organisations. He currently serves on as a director on the board of the Singapore Chinese Orchestra and the Orchestra of the Music Makers (OMM), an award-winning symphony orchestra comprising trained volunteer musicians.
Prof Chan is the music director of both the Singapore’s Metropolitan Festival Orchestra (MFO) and the OMM. In 2008, he was bestowed the Composers and Authors Society of Singapore’s award for Artistic excellence for his contributions to the Singapore music community. Prof Chan has conducted orchestras and performed at major music festivals internationally, and his concerts and CD recordings have been broadcast on Australia’s ABC Classic FM and UK’s BBC Radio 3.
In 2020 he made history when he conducted the OMM and an international star cast in Die Walküre, Singapore’s first-ever production of a Wagner ring cycle opera, to critical acclaim at the Esplanade Theatres on the Bay. Opera (UK) proclaimed that Prof Chan “elicited a multitude of expressive nuances and drew immense power without force from his musicians,” on the production. Recordings of major orchestral works by Mahler and Elgar, as well as works by Singaporean composers conducted by him is currently featured on Singapore Airlines KrisWorld in-flight classical music selection, Spotify, YouTube and Apple Music.

Associate Professor Elmie Nekmat
A/P Elmie Nekmat is faculty member at the Department of Communications and New Media (CNM). He specialises in media effects research, focused on the social psychological processes and effects of source and information evaluation on civic engagement and expression on social media. He also researches literacy and wellbeing related to digital media use. He is concurrently Principal Investigator for the Centre for Trusted Internet and Community and Research Associate at the Centre for Family and Population Research in NUS. A/P Elmie is a Resident Fellow at Ridge View Residential College.
Beyond the academe, A/P Elmie serves and contributes widely to public bodies, organisations, boards, and committees – largely in the areas related to digital media use, wellbeing, and literacy, education and language, sports, and community development.
A/P Elmie is an NUS alumnus for his undergraduate studies and was a recipient of the NUS Overseas Graduate Scholarship for his PhD studies. He received the NUS Overseas Postdoctoral Fellowship before joining the faculty in CNM in 2015.
A/P Elmie enjoys spending time with his wife and children. He loves to read and is an avid cyclist.

Dr Kuan Yee Han is Assistant Dean of Students and serves concurrently as Senior Lecturer at Tembusu College and and Master at UTown Residence (UTR). He was a Resident Fellow in Tembusu College for seven years before joining UTR.
As an educator, Dr Kuan combines complementary pedagogies of experiential learning and authentic learning to create an engaging and effective learning environment. He teaches multidisciplinary seminar classes on negotiation and ageing in Singapore, as well as conduct many out-of-classroom living and learning experiences. Dr Kuan is also a certified Lego Serious Play facilitator.
As a passionate educator, Dr Kuan has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Residential College Teaching Excellence Honour Roll and University Annual Teaching Excellence Award (AY18/19 and AY19/20). These accolades highlight his dedication to providing high quality education and his commitment to nurturing the academic and personal growth in his students.

Dr Kristy Fu graduated from NUS Medicine and was accepted into Paediatric Medicine Residency Programme at National University Healthcare System as the pioneer batch of residents. During her undergraduate years at NUS, she participated actively in sports and games and represented the Singapore Women’s Softball team at the SEA Games in 2007 and 2011. After putting down her glove to focus on specialist training, she went on to obtain the Master of Medicine in Paediatric Medicine, and became a member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health after three years of residency training as a junior resident. She then successfully completed her six year residency programme and achieved Specialist Accreditation for Paediatric Medicine at the end of her specialist training. During her residency training, Kristy led her peers as the chief resident and also completed the Singapore Chief Residency Programme organised by Healthcare Leadership College, Ministry of Health, Singapore.
Pursuing her interest in Paediatric Neurocritical Care, Kristy went on to achieve her Dual Specialist Accreditation in Paediatric Critical Care Medicine two years later, and she spent a year working as a clinical fellow at Boston Children’s Hospital to further her knowledge and skills in managing children with neurocritical conditions. She is currently a consultant Paediatric Intensivist working in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at National University Hospital, Singapore.
Kristy is also a passionate clinical teacher and committed instructional designer. She contributes to a variety of teaching and learning activities, and curriculum design at NUS Medicine, including undergraduate, postgraduate, and interprofessional education activities. She has been awarded teaching awards numerous times for her work in medical education. She is also the faculty advisor for student life and development in the Office for Students, Dean’s Office of NUS Medicine. In this role, she works closely with student leaders and student interest groups in pursuing community service, student life activities, and leadership development.
Apart from keeping herself physically active by engaging in regular dog walks, night runs, and practising pilates, Kristy volunteers her time outside work to lead executive committees of various medical and intensive care societies and charity organisations. She also hopes to complete her Master’s degree in Health Professions Education in 2024 and invest more of her time in educational research in the near future.

An alumna of the NUS Law School, Mia Yang joined the university after eight years in legal practice. Little did she know that she would spend the next 19 years at the helm of the Law School’s administration team, overseeing various departments and ensuring the smooth running of the day-to-day operations. She also maintained close connections with the Faculty’s graduates and donors through her work in alumni relations and development.
Although Mia Yang only joined the OSA family in January 2021, her involvement with student life started much earlier when she was appointed Resident Fellow of Temasek Hall (2003- 2011), Resident Advisor of Kuok Foundation House (2011 – 2016) and Resident Fellow of Raffles Hall (2016 – 2017). Her experience as a residential staff for 14 years laid a solid foundation for the work she is undertaking as part of the OSA team today.
Other than her work at NUS, Mia Yang is a Volunteer Magistrate with the Small Claims Tribunal, State Courts and an accredited Mediator with the Singapore Mediation Centre.
