Taking volunteer management to the next level

How can we continue to serve the needs of others during the Covid-19 pandemic? A group of NUS students collaborated with Community Link (ComLink), a community initiative where Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) and their partners come together to support families with young children living in rental flats.

NUS students volunteered actively at the Social Service Office (SSO) @ Ang Mo Kio (AMK) to serve the needs of these families. In order to onboard new community volunteers, NUS students created resources for them to better understand the needs of the AMK residents, thus being able to contribute more effectively from the get-go.

Irving Wong, Year 2, Law student and Tan Jing Xuan, Year 2 Pharmaceutical Science reflected on their volunteering journey.

"Throughout our research on the needs of the residents in Ang Mo Kio, we realised that they face a lot of challenges on a day-to-day basis. And we wanted to ensure the volunteers working with SSO have an easier time to understand their [the residents'] needs," said Irving.
