NUS Arts Groups Tutors

Our groups work closely with passionate and dedicated tutors who guide them on their creative journeys, and hone their ability to experiment, practice and create.
Choral Director - The NUSChoir
CFA is currently looking for a choral director for The NUSChoir, a group of student singers dedicated to the pursuit of choral artistry. Prospective candidates can apply at the NUS career portal here. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
Guided by the NUS Arts for All (AFA) framework, CFA seeks an outstanding leader who can articulate a compelling vision for university choral activity and will inspire and mentor students in musical excellence, developing their vocal, ensemble, and leadership skills within the university's structured and interdisciplinary approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Artistic Leadership: Provide visionary and expert choral instruction for the NUS Choir and the wider campus community, nurturing musical and technical growth while guiding students through performance preparation for major concerts at the university and beyond.
- Interdisciplinary Engagement: Develop cross-disciplinary and cross-genre collaborations, connecting choral practice with wider artistic and academic contexts within the university and across the ASEAN community.
- Student Development: Mentor choir members and their student leaders by guiding the planning and execution of student-led initiatives, community outreach activities, and collaborations with other arts groups on campus, including vocal ensembles in university halls and residential colleges.
- Community Building: Foster an inclusive, collegial, and supportive environment where students at all levels can explore and develop their passion for choral singing.
- Programme Planning: Design progressive, comprehensive training and performance repertoire together with CFA leadership and in consultation with the choir's student executive committee, preparing the group for at least one major concert or equivalent per academic year.
Qualifications:
- A master's degree in music, in related choral fields, or an equivalent combination of tertiary education and impactful professional practice.
- Demonstrable track record with at least 5 years of relevant experience teaching and leading tertiary, community, and professional vocal ensembles, with evidence of artistic excellence and impact.
- Ability to articulate and implement a compelling vision for university choral activity within a broader campus arts education context.
- Experience in nurturing talent and supporting student leadership development in the arts.
- Proficiency in coaching choral repertoire in multiple languages, including but not limited to English.
- Active involvement as a performer in the local and/or international choral or vocal music scene.
- Familiarity with interdisciplinary arts practice and/or experience in community-based arts initiatives is highly desirable.
Additional Information:
- This is a part-time contracted position with preset hours, scheduled in coordination with CFA leadership.
- Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview where they will be asked to present their vision for university choral activity. Finalists will be invited to lead the choir over a trial period culminating in a performance.

Volunteers and Festival Assistants
CFA is always on the lookout for volunteers and festival assistants to support our signature events.
Currently, CFA is looking for a Festival Assistant (FA) for the NUS Arts Festival 2026 (NAF2026) to support publicity, ticketing coordination, vendor liaison, and post-festival reporting. More information about this position is available below.

Candidates should have good design skills, strong administrative capabilities, and a keen understanding of how CFA and student groups operate during the Festival period.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the point of contact (POC) for student groups regarding NAF publicity submission requirements, including ticketing form guidance.
- Collate and track publicity submissions from student groups to ensure timely and accurate delivery.
- Liaise with OSA Communications (OSA Comms), external design agencies, and CFA where necessary to refine, approve, and disseminate publicity materials.
- Prepare the NAF social media and EDM calendar; coordinate with OSA Comms on scheduling and distribution.
- Assist in preparing and submitting ticketing forms to BookMyShow.
- Design and deploy the NAF feedback form; manage the distribution plan and collection of responses.
- Create and adapt social media and EDM content for NAF in line with the brand guide.
- Develop and execute the NAF merchandise distribution plan, aligning with marketing/publicity efforts.
- Liaise with external vendors (e.g., printers, installers for outdoor branding) and oversee deliverables and timelines.
- Archive NAF videos online after events conclude, ensuring proper metadata and access settings.
- Compile a comprehensive post-NAF report for NAF2026, highlighting feedback, trends, and key observations.
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong design skills with the ability to follow and adapt a brand guide; proficiency in Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, etc.).
- Ability to create engaging social media content; familiarity with producing trendy reels is a plus.
- Prior NAF experience, coupled with understanding of CFA processes are preferred.
- Excellent communication skills for working with NUS students, OSA staff, external agencies, and vendors.
- Strong administrative skills with meticulous attention to detail and documentation.
- Proven ability to manage timelines, work proactively, and handle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong command of the English language, with clear writing and editorial judgement.
Contract Period:
- From October to December 2025, engagement can be on a part-time basis with 10h/week.
- From January to April 2026, the role may be converted to a full-time engagement.
- Working arrangements, including hours, can be discussed and finalised during the interview process.
- Flexibility to work evenings/weekends during the Festival period is necessary.

Internships
CFA offers internships throughout the year. Interns will be exposed to the fundamentals of arts management, such as show planning, administration, and arts marketing. During the semester, CFA partners with the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music to offer an internship under MUA3260. CFA also offers a summer internship programme over the summer months from May to August.
Within a dynamic and safe work environment, CFA’s internship will enable you to experience strategies for student engagement in the arts, the intricacies of conceptualising a show, programming and marketing a series or event, as well as managing a production.
Beyond direct mentorships by arts professionals who are CFA staff, CFA’s interns also have opportunities to go on field trips to various arts agencies, have dialogues with arts practitioners, and participate in interdisciplinary workshops and projects.
Your time with CFA is certain to be a meaningful, in-depth encounter with the arts, that will equip you with a variety of useful skill-sets for the future.

Marketing & Communications Internship
